Pharmacokinetics
Bacteriostatic water is a hyper sterile formulation of water and benzyl alcohol. The benzyl alcohol is mixed at a concentration of 0.9% compared to the water. This alcohol acts as a sterilization method against bacteria. When exposed to alcohol, bacteria cell membranes are quickly broken down, and the host rendered useless.[2]
Scientific Studies
In 2004, a group of researchers documented the effects and efficacy of bacteriostatic water. Following treatment with a bactericidal solution, solutions were mixed with bacteriostatic water. Findings indicated that the water prevented the growth of more bacteria following sterilization, suggesting efficacy.[3]
